PERSONAJE ICONICO

A NEW ICON IS BORN

Tim Berners-lee, he was born on June 8, 1955 in London, England, is a British

computer scientist known as the father of the World Wide Web. His revolutionary

innovation has had a significant impact on modern society and has transformed the

way we communicate, share information and access knowledge. Tim Berners-lee's

story begins in the 1980s, when he worked at the particle physics laboratory at CERN

(European Organization for Nuclear Research) in Geneva, Switzerland. It was there

that he conceived the idea of a global information system that could connect and

share information between scientists around the world. In 1989, he presented his

initial proposal for what would later become the World Wide Web. Berners-lee

developed the foundations of the web, including three key technologies that remain

fundamental today: hypertext markup language (HTML), hypertext transfer protocol

(HTTP), and the web address system (URL).  These innovations allowed the creation

of interconnected web pages that could be accessed and navigated through the

Internet. In 1990, Beners-lee launched the first web browser, called Worldwideweb,

as well as the first web server. These tools allowed users to create, edit and view

web pages intuitively. Additionally, Berners-Lee promoted the idea of an open and

collaborative approach to web development, encouraging the adoption of open

standards and community participation in their evolution. As the Web grew in

popularity, Berners-Lee founded the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) in 1994,

with the goal of overseeing and promoting the continued development of the Web.

The W3C has become a key organization in standardizing web technologies and

promoting accessibility and interoperability. Over the years, Berners-Lee has been

a staunch supporter of the open web and has worked to ensure that it remains a

public resource available to all. He has advocated for net neutrality, online privacy,

and protecting individuals' digital rights. In 2019, Berners-Lee launched Inrupt, a

company that seeks to develop a decentralized network based on the principles of

the original web. Its objective is to return control of personal data to users and

empower them in the use of the web.
